OBSAI aims to create an open market for cellular base stations. An open market will substantially reduce the development effort and costs that have been traditionally associated with creating new base station product ranges.
Since OBSAI was first established in September 2002, its member companies have worked together to produce a complete set of interface, hardware and test specifications. These will enable the production of base station modules to fit any base station utilising the OBSAI interface specifications.
The complete set of OBSAI interface specifications covering the areas of Transport, Clock/Control, Radio and Base Band, together with hardware connection specifications are available for anyone to download from this web site. In addition, OBSAI members only can also obtain the OBSAI test specifications as well. OBSAI welcomes more companies to join in order to get involved with OBSAI and to make full use of the specifications.

Non-members of OBSAI can obtain the OBSAI interface specifications by clicking on 'Documents' on the left side menu, and by following the link to 'Public Documents'.
Three years on, OBSAI still continues to attact companies from the industry spanning, base station manufacturers, module manufacturers and component manufacturers. To date, OBSAI has reached the 130 membership mark.
